Department of Physics at FCT NOVA

José Paulo Santos is professor at the Department of Physics of the Nova School of Science and Technology of the Nova University Lisbon and Professeur Associé de Recherche (Associate Professor of Research) Sorbonne Université, Faculté des Sciences et Ingénierie (Paris, France).

He is currently the head of the Department of Physics of the FCT-NOVA, director of the LIBPhys, deputy spokesperson of the SPARC Collaboration Stored Particles Atomic Physics Research Collaboration, director of the NOVA.FCT Editorial (Publishing House of the FCT-NOVA), and director of the PhD Programme in Biomedical Engineering – NOVA Instrumentation for Health

His current research activity is both theoretical and experimental at the interface of several fields: atomic physics, nuclear physics, and biomedical physics. He has published circa 160 articles in refereed scientific journals, coordinates and coordinated 17 national and international research projects, and was the chairman and co-chairman of 14 international and national conferences. He has also supervised 3 Post-Doctoral researchers, 9 PhD thesis and 22 MSc thesis, and has been associate editor of 1 scientific journal, editor of 1 scientific journal and reviewer of 32 scientific journals.
