Program Coordination
Francisco Ferreira

Associate Professor with Habilitation NOVA FCT

Francisco Ferreira is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at NOVA School of Science and Technology NOVA FCT and a senior researcher at CENSE – Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research, where he coordinates projects in the areas of sustainability, energy, and climate transition. He holds a degree in Environmental Engineering from FCT-NOVA, a master’s degree from Virginia Tech (USA), and a Ph.D. from NOVA University Lisbon.

Throughout his career, he has combined academic work with significant civic and technical engagement in public policy and civil society. His research focuses on air quality, climate change, sustainable development, and green finance, with particular interest in innovative financial instruments such as green and blue bonds. He has published in these areas and collaborated on international projects promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and the Cape Verde Stock Exchange, contributing to the development of sustainability strategies at both national and global levels.

In addition to his academic career, he has a strong connection to environmental activism. He served as President of Quercus from 1996 to 2001 and as Vice-President from 2007 to 2011. He has represented civil society on advisory bodies such as the National Water Council and the National Council for the Environment and Sustainable Development. Currently, he is the President of ZERO – Sustainable Earth System Association, one of the key NGOs working in the areas of energy, mobility, biodiversity, circular economy, and climate policy.

Isabel Soares de Moura

Economist and Professor

Isabel Soares de Moura has been a higher education lecturer for 23 years, teaching in Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Postgraduate programs. She has taught courses in corporate finance, investment project analysis, risk management, and organizational sustainability. Isabel is a guest lecturer at several business schools in Executive Education programs, where she teaches corporate finance and sustainable development.

She regularly participates in these executive initiatives, teaching on topics such as corporate finance, sustainability, and strategic development, promoting the bridge between academic research and the practical realities of businesses.

She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Management and holds a Master’s degree in Management Sciences (ISCTE), as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management (Universidade Lusíada). She has presented scientific papers at various international conferences.

In addition to her academic experience, Isabel began her professional career in 1994 at Caixa Geral de Depósitos, where she held managerial positions in the International Business Department, Corporate and Institutional Marketing, and Financial Markets. She also served as an advisor to the Board of Directors at INPI (Portuguese Institute of Industrial Property) and held economic advisory roles for both the Minister of the Economy and the Minister of Finance.

She is an experienced speaker at business seminars and workshops on topics such as corporate financing, internationalization, sustainability, and risk mitigation instruments.
