Course content

In a global context marked by the urgency of a sustainable transition, Facility Management (FM) plays a decisive role in implementing strategies that reconcile economic growth, environmental responsibility and operational efficiency. This postgraduate course offers an integrated view of the intersection between FM policies, the climate crisis and organisational strategies, preparing participants to develop sustainable solutions for the entire life cycle of buildings.

 

Throughout the course, participants will deepen their knowledge of Green Buildings, Urban Development, quantifying greenhouse gas emissions and CSRD financial reporting, exploring essential methodologies and tools to drive organisational change towards sustainability.

 

Innovative practices such as Service on Demand, Wellbeing Certifications, Workplace Experience and the ISO 41001 standard will be covered, providing a structured framework for effective and sustainable management of spaces.

With a Master’s Degree in Business Management, a Law Degree with a specialisation in Legal and Economic Sciences, an MBA in Business Planning and Strategy, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership and Team Development.

In 1999, he was honoured by ANJE as the winner of the Business Ideas Competition at the Lusíada University in Lisbon. Co-author of the management book ‘Casos Empresariais’ Alentejo. Collaborated on the International Marketing book ‘Portuguese ChampionsAbroad’. He was a consultant on the European project EUFACINET – European Network of Facilitators, and also has experience in business consultancy.

In 2007 and 2014, he was part of the coordination team that won the ‘Best Motivation and Incentive Event in Portugal’ – “24 Hours of Management” and “24 Hours of Logistics”.


Between 2012 and 2016, he was a lecturer on the Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership Training and Team Development at I.S.P.A.- IU.

Since 2016, he has been a member of the Rock in Rio Academy coordination team.

Since 2013, he has been honoured several times as one of the most influential people (among more than a million participants) in the Harvard LinkedIn group.

Since January 2020, he has been a member of the strategic board of the City of Guarda’s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2027.


Researcher in the areas of Corporate Governance, Organisational Sustainability, Leadership and Team Management.

Between 2020 and 2021, he attended the ‘Leadership and Innovation’ programme at MIT Professional Education.

Since 2021, he has been co-coordinator of the ‘Hi-Tech Leadership’ programme at NOVA School of Sciences and Technology, NOVA FCT. In March 2021, in recognition of MIT’s values of ‘excellence, meritocracy, courage, humility, curiosity, passion for solving difficult problems and a strong desire to contribute to society’, he was honoured with the “Fire Hydrant Award” by MIT Professional Education. In May 2021, with the support of Jornal de Negócios, he co-created the first solidarity NFT in Portugal, raising funds to support the ** SOS Children’s Villages**. Executive Director of APFM – Portuguese Association of Facility Management, FMHOUSE Regional Director, Head of AcademiaFM, the Facility Management Training and Certification programme in Facility Management in partnership with SGS. As well as running APFM in Portugal, he is a consultant for Facility Management projects in South America and Europe.

At European level, he has been a member of the Board, the Programme Advisory Board and was an Ambassador for EuroFM, the European Facility Management network. He is a member of the Technical Committee responsible for work related to Facility Management (EN15221 and ISO410XX) at IPQ.

Miguel Alves Agostinho was previously Sales and Marketing Director at Konica Minolta Portugal and SDG Simuladores de Gestão, and was also Director of Projects financed by the European Social Fund and Mentor of social entrepreneurship projects as a guest at ISCTE-IUL.

Miguel Alves Agostinho has a degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from IST and a postgraduate qualification from ISCTE in Commercial Management
