João is professor of Chemical Engineering at the Nova School of Science and Technology.

He was Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at NOVA University and former Coordinator of NOVA Doctoral School. Former Vice-President of the Portuguese National Science Foundation.

João is member of “Academia de Engenharia”, Portugal. Member of the editorial board of “Journal of Membrane Science”, “Journal of Biotechnology” and “Desalination and Water Treatment”.

He in an author of circa 220 papers in peer reviewed journals and Founder of the spin-off company “Zeyton Nutraceuticals”.
