Fernanda Llussá

Fernanda is a Professor at NOVA School of Science and Technology. Llussá holds a PhD in Economics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA, USA). She also held a visiting position on Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Deshpande Entrepreneurship Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Her research interests are in the fields of entrepreneurship, technology market transfer, financial constraints and economic growth. Several students of Fernanda Llussá have gone on to develop new businesses one of which, in a project where Fernanda Llussá is involved as a member of the founder team, was distinguished with a second place in the Richard Branson innovation prize in 2009, received finance from EDP, and is well under way to become a successful start-up.

Fernanda is involved in projects funded by national and international funding agencies as the PURE project, which has just got approved funding under the FET-Open Horizon 2020 (2020-2024), a very competitive collaborative research and innovation action which envisions breakthrough technologies and ambitions interdisciplinary research teams. Llussá role in the PURE project is on defining the technology market transfer strategy.
