Associate Professor, NOVA FCT
Isabel Gomes is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA FCT) and a researcher at the NOVA Math research center at NOVA FCT.
Her research focuses on linear optimization modeling and metaheuristics. She has developed optimization models to solve practical problems in logistics management, such as waste collection routing, supply chain planning and design, facility location, and social care logistics.
She holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and Industrial Management from the Technical University of Lisbon, where she addressed the design and planning of closed-loop supply chains. She has been involved in various educational programs at NOVA FCT, from undergraduate to doctoral studies, and is the former coordinator of the Master’s in Mathematics and Applications at NOVA FCT.
Senior Teaching Fellow in Finance at AESE Business School
Diogo Ribeiro Santos is an academic and consultant with extensive experience in finance, management, and data science. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Universidade Europeia, where he teaches Statistics, Market Research, Forecasting Methods, and Data Analysis. He holds a Ph.D. in Management from Universidade Europeia and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Information Sciences and Technologies at ISCTE-IUL. Additionally, he completed a postgraduate degree in Enterprise Data Science and Analytics at Nova IMS.
He is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Finance at AESE Business School and has held positions such as Senior Partner and Financial Director at Insight Venture – Sociedade de Capital de Risco, CEO of Sixt Rent-a-Car Portugal, CFO of Navalrocha, SA, and Vice-President of the Portuguese Institute for Development Support. His experience includes company valuation, mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and corporate restructuring.
His current research interests include natural language processing, applications of generative artificial intelligence, and the use of large language models in a business context.
