Jorge has a Graduation in Physics (University of Coimbra, 1989) and a PhD in Surface Physics (Nova University of Lisbon, 2003. He currently dedicates himself to Biomedical Engineering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2007 he started a new research group in Tissue Engineering and is the PI of a project in Skin Regeneration (iSkin2: Improving skin regeneration through an improved Skin2 biosynthetic skin substitute, project PTDC\/BTM-MAT\/31470\/2017).\u00a0He collaborates with other researchers and groups in the Biomaterials, Bioengineering and Biomedical areas in projects concerning, for instance, bone and nervous tissue regeneration, anti-microbial coatings for bone and dental implants, magnetic nanoparticles for cancer teranostics and the use of polysaccharides in cryoprotectants.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scientific outcome of these activities include 35 publications (31 papers, 4 book chapters) since 2009. His h-index is 16. He (co-)supervised 3 PhD students (completed) and (co-)supervises 5 PhD students (in progress). He also (co-)supervised more than 60 masters students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
